Shocking scenes emerge from the ATP Rio Open. Carlos Alcaraz’s campaign was over, moments after the commencement. Two points into the match and the Spaniard rolled his ankle. He decided to continue playing and managed to break Thiago Monteiro in the opening game. However, the state of his ankle led to the inevitable.

Right after breaking in the opening game, Carlos lost his serve in the next game. He decided he couldn’t continue after the game and walked straight to his opponent as he was visibly hurting.

The glimpses of his ankle are doing rounds on social media and they appear to be quite frightening. Carlos was not in a state to continue and the crowd was silent. Local Brazilian’s win wasn’t cheered and it was all gloomy in Rio.

Alcaraz was also spotted limping off the court. He’s known for dedicating time to his fans after the match but today he could not sign any autographs. However, before leaving on the golf cart, Carlos apologized to the fans for not signing autographs. The fans sympathized with him as he appeared seemingly worried.
