This defeat continued “Main Event” Jey Uso’s quest for a singles title in WWE all thanks to his brother. But according to a report by WrestleVotes Jey Uso dethroning GUNTHER was the plan before going into the show, but was changed at the last moment.

The report from WrestleVotes on X read, “Hearing an interesting story we hope to follow up on with more tomorrow… source states there were multiple people within the company under the impression Jey Uso was winning the IC title tonight on RAW. Toward the end of the match, Jey Uso connected with a Uso Splash and the referee was about to count the three when the bell suddenly started ringing erratically. The camera then cut to a hooded figure at ringside revealed to be Jimmy Uso. Although Jey took out his brother and went for another Uso Splash, GUNTHER was able to counter it into a package rollup and pick up the win.

Jimmy Uso had also cost Jey at SummerSlam last year when he nearly had the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns beat. This led to Jey Uso quitting WWE in kayfabe, only to show up on RAW away from his Bloodline family. Jey Uso has been getting over with the WWE Universe and it looks like he was considered to carry the Intercontinental title, ending GUNTHER’s historic run.

Jey Uso to wrestle Jimmy Uso in the City of Brotherly Love?

The events of RAW do hint at WWE going with a brother vs brother clash between The Usos in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’, Philadelphia at WrestleMania. WWE has done a good job of keeping them apart considering they split in the second half of 2023, thus building the anticipation for their eventual clash.

This will also be in line with WWE’s tradition of booking a match between two brothers for the biggest night of the year. At WrestleMania X Bret Hart took on his brother Owen Hart and WrestleMania 25 saw Jeff Hardy go up against Matt Hardy. Kayfabe brothers Kane and The Undertaker also squared off at WrestleMania XV. Will The Usos be another classic addition to this elite group?
