According to last year’s ‘NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers’ list, William Byron wasn’t among the top 75 Cup series drivers. But in 2023, Byron’s impressive wins and making it into the final four of the Cup Series changed perceptions. Now, as a Daytona 500 champion at age 26, his status is solidified.

From dominating the truck series, winning the Xfinity series as a rookie, and making solid progress in the Cup series, Byron’s career trajectory has been impressive. However, Bianchi also acknowledged a slight stagnation before Byron’s standout season last year, where he “went six races leads, the most” and proved his mettle.

Cautioning against labeling drivers prematurely, Bianchi emphasized Byron’s need to validate his success, which he did by winning the Daytona 500. This victory solidifies Byron’s status as a genuine contender, with boundless potential for future accomplishments.
